Playwriting, foul-mouthed, bleeding-heart, liberal, cat-owned female writing junkie seeks peace on Tuesdays, drive on Saturdays, a better body, the goals of Lucinda Williams'Passionate Kisses, three-dimensional storytelling, a pink suit with matching pillbox hat and pearls (I've already got a black leather motorcycle jacket), roots and wings, The Origin of Love, Mr. Tumnus' house, Greek Island hoppage, a climb up to the top of the Eiffel Tower during fireworks, and a perfect Ganesh.
My journal is by and large a friends-only thing. Please don't be offended or take it personally if I don't friend you back.
My favorite online tool for writers is Write Or Die. I highly recommend it.
Please note: I don't IM, AIM, SMS, LOL, WTF, IMO, BBQ, and if you can't write in a reasonable approximation of the English language, please take your business elsewhere.
"Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. Unreasonable people attempt to adapt the world to themselves. All progress, therefore, depends on unreasonable people."
- George Bernard Shaw
"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train."
-Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest
"I read something in a book by David Mamet that rang true. He said, if you’ve got a fall back plan then you’ll fall back on it. He said that if you’ve got nothing to fall back on then you’re halfway there."
-Michael Showalter
ETHEL: Don't you think that everyone looks back on their childhood with a certain amount of bitterness and regret? It doesn't have to ruin your life!
--On Golden Pond, Ernest Thompson
What's the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Read, double the vanilla, it doesn’t matter what other people think, never turn money down, you can start your day over anytime, remember that your shoulders are part of your back.
What’s really difficult for you?
...I’d have to say intimacy. -- Amy Sedaris, Breathe magazine, 2005
"I was so excited to meet a person who wrote that troublingly and amusingly and sympathetically about Americans who didn't live in New York City that I bloodied my shins on my marble coffee table, trying to get to him so I could shake his hand!"
-Kurt Vonnegut, on meeting Tennessee Williams
"I keep coming back in the hope that someone in a darkened room somewhere will show me an image that burns itself into my mind." --Sarah Kane
"I've never understood why some people consider paying musicians to be optional."-- Merle Haggard

Nipples: Hey, gang! I know that it's really tough being a kid these days.
What with all the guns, drugs and emo kids at school.
I hate to break it to you but it's also tough being a grown-up!
Jobs, bills and responsibility are big things you'll have to deal with!
And that's why it's important to never give up on your art!
Because in ten years, it will probably be the only part of you that isn't boring!

WARNING:I potentially could post adult material to this journal, underage viewers should not proceed. This warning is made in cooperation with LiveJournal's request for such statements (FAQ #112). More likely than not, though, it's just whining about whatever, and if you really want porn, you could do better elsewhere. Additionally, I occasionally ask questions in public posts about things that I don't know anything about, as a means of gathering research for plays that I'm writing (these are generally of a medical/scientific nature, and can be pretty gross). Please understand that ignorance doesn't mean "deliberately rude," it means "uninformed."
In the event of a life or death emergency, my address is located in a private post as the first entry of this journal. I give LJ Admin permission to use this information if it means saving me from death or bodily injury. Let's hope you never have to use it.
